 Lesson 2: Communication

Operations Specialists assign routes 24-48 hours prior to your route day. Communication with your Driver Operation Specialist is imperative to a successful route.

Drivers must begin their route between 6:00 am-10:00 am and finish by 5:00 pm respectively. If you are unable to begin and complete your route, please communicate with your Driver Operation Specialist immediately.

Notify your Driver Specialist in a timely manner if you are:

  1. Unable to accept your route
  2. Foresee a delay in your route (starting past 10 am local time)
  3. Plan on taking a vacation or unable to accept routes for a set time

If you can’t perform a route that you previously accepted, communicate with your Driver Specialist immediately so that the Driver Operation Specialist can contract the route to another driver.

Failure to complete a route that you accepted can also result in immediate termination of your contract.

Lesson 3: Customer Pickups

ReDyper Bags

ONLY GREEN ReDyper bags or BioBags can be accepted for pick up for all our ReDyper customers. Any other bag should NOT be collected and should be reported as “damaged” through the Cigo Tracker App.

Plastic bags do not break down and are not accepted at our compost site.

ReDyper Pick Up

ReDyper bags will be sitting on the customer’s doorstep within 5 feet of their door.

If you do not see the bags on their doorstep check customer NOTES in Cigo for special pick-up instructions.
(Follow pick-up instructions for each customer on the notes section of the Cigo Tracker App)

ReDyper Average

Customers have an average of 2-3 bags out per pick-up. We have a 6-bag limit in all of our locations.

Take all bags-up to our bag limit of 6!

Anything beyond 6 bags, will remain at the customer’s address and be reported through Cigo as “damaged” and marked with a note that the customer was over the bag limit.

ReDyper Boxes

Do Not take any of the ReDyper boxes with you. If the customer is storing their bags in the ReDyper box, or any other style of box or bin, do not remove it. Only take the approved ReDyper bags.

If bags are ripped or in a non-approved plastic bag, do not pick them up. Go to the Cigo App and mark the stop as “damaged” and take a photo. Photos are required for any stops deemed “damaged”. Below are examples of “non-approved” plastic bags.

Examples of NON-APPROVED plastic bags

Lesson 4: Completing a Route

I

Starting Route

1. The Cigo Tracker App is used for all routes.

2. All “new” drivers and drivers needing more materials will start their route at the storage unit to pick up new driver materials.

3. Navigate to each customer address through the Cigo App.

4. Ensure the address in Cigo matches the address you have arrived at.

During Route

1. Check the notes section for each customer!

2. Marking customer stops
Complete– mark stops “complete” for successful pick-ups of all bags that the customer has put out.

Damaged– mark stops “damaged” for customers who have ripped bags (all or some), wrong bags, or damaged bags. Do not pick up “damaged” bags. Photos are required for damaged bags.

Incomplete-mark stops “incomplete” for customers who DO NOT have diapers out and take a photo of the front doorstep (5ft from the door)

No Diapers Out

Customers that do not have diapers out for pick up:

1. Place a “Sorry We Missed You” sticky note on the front door.

2. Mark the pick-up as “Incomplete” in the Cigo App.

3. Take a photo 5 feet from the door and submit it through the Cigo App. Photos from your vehicle will not be accepted.

Sorry We Missed You Stickers

These stickers are used to let the customer know that you were there for their planned pickup and there were no diapers out to be collected.

•Grab a stack at the storage unit to cover your route!

1. Drivers must add the time they were there to pick up so make sure you have a pen with you during your route.

2. Place this sticky on the customer’s front door BEFORE taking a photo of the location to report “No Diapers Out” on the Cigo app.

Redyper Driver Stickers

Drivers will need to place this sticker visibly on their clothes while driving routes.

This helps our customers identify that you are the driver picking up/dropping up supplies for the Redyper program with Recyclops.

•Grab a few at the storage unit to cover your route!

Lesson 5: Route Success

Complete Pickups

Follow your scheduled route to pick up diaper bags from all your assigned stops, then unload them at your drop-off location. All customer pickups must be marked off in Cigo.

Photos

Photos Successfully Uploaded- Customers who do not have diapers out for pickup should be marked “incomplete” and the photo must be successfully uploaded in Cigo. The photo must meet the requirements of 5 ft from the doorstep.

Failure to submit “incomplete” pickup photos for customers without diapers out for pickup will result in non-payment for that stop. A photo is required for each customer when diapers are not out for pick up, deeming the stop “incomplete”.

Mitigating Circumstances

We do not compensate drivers who do not complete their assigned route unless they experience a mitigating circumstance such as a mechanical problem or severe weather that prohibits route completion.

Drivers citing a mitigating circumstance for not completing their route must provide proof of the circumstance such as a photo of a flat tire or extreme weather condition to their Driver Operations Specialist.

Any other reason for a failed route results in not being paid.

Wrong Address

Drivers are required to pick up at the correct address that is listed in the Cigo app. Drivers will not be compensated for submitting photos of the incorrect address. It is important to ensure the address you are at matches the address in the Cigo app.

Lesson 6: Diaper Drop Off/Storage Units

Location & Materials

1. Storage units host driver materials and are our designated diaper unloading location for completed routes.

2. All units are outdoor, self-service units.

3. Drivers receive the storage unit address, facility access code, unit #, and lock combo when the route is assigned.

4. Your start and stop flag on the Cigo App will be your designated storage unit for that route. Drivers will unload diapers at this location.

If you are a new driver or need more materials for your route, please go to this unit to collect your materials.

5. Materials provided at storage unit:

-“Sorry we missed you” stickers

-ReDyper stickers the

Storage Unit Capacity

1. Drivers are required to fill out a Completed Route Report after every route. This report includes a photo of your Dyper haul (to ensure we are not collecting any plastic bags) and the storage unit.

2. Weekly pictures of the storage unit allow our operations team to keep up with the shipping and cleanliness of the units.

Lesson 7: Diaper Unloading Process

We have 2 different unloading processes for storage units across the nation. Your unloading process may vary based on your route area.

01

Bulk Bags & Pallets

When you unload at the designated storage location, all collected green ReDyper bags are to be placed in reusable bulk bags that are sitting on top of the wooden pallets.

Step 1

Unload Green ReDyper bags into the white bulk bags on top of the pallets.
One bulk bag per pallet!

Step 2

Do not put any boxes or plastic bags into this bulk bag!
GREEN REDYPER BAGS ONLY!

Fill one bulk bag completely before starting a new bulk bag. Start by filling the corners of the bulk bag to ensure the stability of the bag.

Step 3

Close “FULL” bulk bags. Tie the parachute sleeve closed at the top of the bulk bag. The bags need to be properly tied in order to ship to the compost center.

DO NOT leave full bulk bags open.

Step 4

Let your Operations Specialist know if you are running low on bulk bags and pallets through the Dyper Driver Report.

02

Gaylord Boxes

Step 1 Gaylord Boxes Explained

Gaylord boxes are 2-3 walled large cardboard container that holds your product in one box for shipping. They fit on a standard shipping pallet and you can combine several small shipments into one making for very cost-effective shipping.

*Gaylords vary in weight capacity, with some D containers holding up to 1,200 pounds, while others can handle more or less. Standard pallet boxes measuring 48 inches by 40 inches by 36 inches may have weight capacities ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 pounds.

Gaylord boxes are used in many industries from Produce to various retail outlets. The 2 or 3-wall design allows for maximum durability.

Basic Dimension of GB’s used in our Program.

Standard Gaylord: The standard and most popular Gaylord box size measures 48 inches by 40 inches by 36 inches. Another typical size is the 40-inch by 40-inch by 40-inch Gaylord. This size lets the pallet container rest on standard 40-inch by 40-inch pallets or on larger 48-inch by 40-inch pallets.

Our Program preferred size is 47x38x50. INSIDE DIMENSIONS

Step 2 Utilizing Gaylord Boxes

Due to their volume capacity, we have established functional usage and application of GB’s for our Program Material housing and storage solutions.

This allows for material to be aggregated into one universal vessel – which allows us to contain materials not only upfront during on-the-ground operations but also allows for ease of transloading and shipment to our partners.

Step 3 Laying out Pallets

Pallets should be laid down on the ground in a liner uniform manner. The openings should face the door, so that pallet jacks can easily access the full pallet – allowing for quick mobility.

Pallets should be:

a. 6 inches from the unit walls.
b. In a typical unit you
should be able to place 3 – 4 pallets from the rear wall to the front on the unit. Typically we set-up in the left side first then work our way to the right side. The ride side should mirror the left.
c. When mirroring the opposite side there should be between 1.5 to 2 feet of space between the left and right rows of pallets.

Step 4 Pallets and Gaylord Bags

Pallet and Gaylord setup should mirror each other on both the left and right sides of the unit. It is suggested that you begin set up and begin to store materials from the front working your way toward the back of the storage.

  • Leave about 2 feet of space between pallets [for left and ride side unit usage].
  • Fill bags from the front of the storage unit to the back. Fill upfront bags FIRST.
  • Try to keep bag centered on top of the pallet as much as possible.

Place “long side of pallets as close as possible to side walls. This allows for the “short side” of the paler to be exposed for easy access during shipping.

Make sure openings for pallets are placed facing the storage door.

On-Site Gaylord Box Set Up "Non Flap Top-Separate Lid"

Below are directions for setting up pallets and ‘Separate Lid’ Gaylord Boxes’ inside units, prior to use, during operation use, and in preparation for future
use.

Initial Set-Up-Pallets & Gaylord Boxes Inside Unit:

1. Pallet Staging: In a Unit, make sure they are approximately six inches from side and back walls and an approximate two-foot aisle between Gaylord Boxes down the center of the unit so that drivers have room to walk past to unload bags into boxes – as they pass the already-filled Gaylord Boxes. Pallets MUST be oriented correctly or the shipper will not be able to insert the forks into the pallet to lift the pallets out to ship them. If you place them improperly, we won’t be able to ship them.

a. Wooden Pallets are 48×40” – Pallets should be laid out with the short side (40”) facing towards the doorway.

b. Long sides of the pallets should be facing towards the wall [parallel to the wall] of the storage unit.

2. Prepping Gaylord boxes: Gaylord Boxes will arrive usually in a uniform stack – as these are folded and not constructed for shipment. To set up, locate Gaylord Box inside unit, unfold and erect the walls of the box, making sure the center flaps are secure.

3. Place Gaylord Box on top of pallets [that were set up during ‘pallet staging’ and repeat the process for future material storage.

4. Filling Gaylord Boxes with materials: When filling the GB’s be sure to fill from the center of the box working your way out towards the walls in a uniform manner, this will help to ensure maximizing material volumes as we disperse material evenly throughout.

5. Box Full? Seal it Up: Our Gaylord Boxes are accompanied by form-fitting lids. You may need to construct these as well. But, once they are ready to go, place them on top of Gaylord box, making sure all materials are secure to allow for easy application of lid. Place lid over the top, then seal of the lid by using the Shipping Tape and tapping off all sides to the main structure of the Gaylord Box – this secures lid during shipment.

6. Repeat the process for future material storage.

On Site- Gaylord Box Set Up Flap Top

Below are directions for setting up the pallet and ‘Flip Top’ Gaylord Boxes’ inside units, prior to use, during operation use, and in preparation for future use.

Initial Set-Up: Pallets & Gaylord Boxes Inside Unit:

1. Pallet Staging: In a Unit, make sure they are approximately six inches from side and back walls and an approximate two-foot aisle between Gaylord Boxes down the center of the unit so that drivers have room to walk past to unload bags into boxes – as they pass already-filled Gaylord Boxes.

2. Prepping FlapTop Gaylord boxes: Gaylord Boxes will arrive usually in a uniform stack – as these are folded and not constructed for shipment. To set up, locate Gaylord Box inside the unit.

a. These Boxes are like typical cardboard boxes that we have all used, just this is a larger scale. Important note: when a driver/contractor sets up these boxes the flaps CANNOT be inside the box. Unfold and erect the walls of the box, making sure the center flaps are secure at the bottom of the box. Make sure that the top flaps are not tucked into the inside of the box – so please be sure that top flaps are outside of the box during material loading.

Make sure that the top flaps are not tucked into the inside of the box – so please be sure that top flaps are outside of the box during material loading.

5. Box Full? Seal it Up:Flap Top Gaylord boxes once full, NEED TO BE TAPED SHUT – meaning that like a normal box, you need to make sure the flaps are outside of the box, you close the flaps towards the center of the box, and then tape them shut appropriately. Several times if necessary to ensure they are secured for shipment..

6. Repeat the process for future material storage.

Proper Set Up

.Below are images of what a proper Gaylord Box unit location looks like when set-up correctly.

Pallets have been placed and spaced correctly from the sides of the walls, as well pallets have been placed the proper way on the ground to aid in shipping. Lids have been placed and tapped down to the Gaylord boxes to ensure secure packages during transload.

Lesson 8: Driver Pay

Driver Pay Day & Taxes

Beginning Monday, October 3rd, 2022, we are adjusting our payment process to pay you faster for your routes. Instead of receiving payments on Tuesday and/or Friday, you can expect your payment within two days from the day you completed your route. In some cases where a route takes further review, it may take longer than two days.

The Federal Reserve Clearing House processes all direct deposit payments. They don’t process over the weekend.

We set up your direct deposit account for payments through Paylocity. You receive an email that walks you through setting up your account.

You are a 1099 contractor. Your payments are not subject to any federal, state, or local taxes.

You are responsible for reporting your income and filing your tax return. For any questions regarding taxes please consult with a tax professional.
Non-Payment Policy
-Driver Service failure can result in non-payment. We apply a service failure to your profile when you do not satisfactorily complete your route.
-Failure to complete a route, missed pick-ups, or unresponsiveness to your  Operations Specialist also can result in a service failure to your profile and result in non-payment and possible termination of your contract.
-We are not responsible for and do not reimburse you for any type of violations (e.g., moving, parking, failure to secure a load, et cetera).
-We realize that there can be abnormal conditions that negatively impact a route (e.g., road construction, adverse weather conditions, excessive recycling) so drivers can request a hardship for consideration You must provide evidence of the hardship for approval.
Driver Pay Calculations

Driver payments are based on an algorithm that analyzes data such as the number of stops, distance traveled, and the number of unloads.

Tips & Tricks

Use a tablet instead of a phone for a larger screen.

Grab new driver materials from storage prior to any pickups – new materials include ReDyper and “Sorry we missed you” stickers.

Check in at every address on Cigo when you arrive. Grab ALL Green ReDyper bag(s) or Green Biobags off their doorstep (within 5 feet of the front door) and head to the next customer.

Bring extra trash bags from home to lie down in your trunk for the route or use a tarp to help keep your car clean.

Bring a pair of disposable gloves for handling bags

Be prepared, make sure you bring what you need to complete your route safely and efficiently and prepare for all weather conditions.
