Dyper Driver Education

Recyclops is proud to partner with Dyper and provide a diaper composting service.

Thank you for becoming a Recyclops contract driver and for helping your area compost diapers and keep them out of the landfill!

The information in this manual is important as it will help you become familiar with what is expected of you as a driver.

Read through the lessons carefully and become familiar with each section.

Getting Started

Cigo Tracker is the app used to create and track routes.

YOU DO NOT NEED A CIGO LOG IN TO COMPLETE THE MODULES

The Operations team will provide you with login credentials upon completion of the education website and commitment to a route.

Route Requirements

Routes are assigned 24-48 hours prior to your scheduled route day. Drivers will receive a text with route information including pickups, miles, pay and drop off location information. All route texts are sent from Recyclops’ operations team at (385) 786-6748.

Drivers have the option to accept or decline the route invite. Failure to accept the route within 24 hours may result in route reassignment.

Drivers must begin their route between 6:00 am-10:00 am and finish by 5:00 pm respectively. Failure to start route or communicate route start time by 10 am local time will result in removal of route or route reassignment.

Failure to complete a route that you accepted can result in nonpayment and/or immediate termination of your contract.

Customer Pickups

Accepted Bags

Diapers will be placed in a compostable bag for pickup. Bags will be tied closed. Acceptable bags will have one or more of the logos (image on the right) printed on the bags themselves. Most bags will be green ReDyper bags.  Any other bags out for collection are NOT approved for pickup (i.e. clear plastic bags, black trash bags, etc).

Bag Location

Diaper bags will be sitting on the customer’s doorstep within 5 feet of their door or designated pickup location.

If you do not see the bags on their doorstep check customer NOTES in Cigo for special pick-up instructions.

Customer Bag Limit

Customers have an average of 2-3 bags out per pick-up, however customers are able to put out up to 6 bags.

If a customer has out more than 6 bags, collect the limit and the rest will remain at the customer’s address. An accurate photo of the remaining bags will be taken, reported through Cigo as “Damaged “, and marked with a note that the customer was over the bag limit.

1. Routes can be completed between 6AM – 5PM. Drivers must be on their route by 10AM.

2. Drivers are required to use the Cigo Tracker app for all routes. No exceptions.

3. All customer pickups per route assigned to drivers must be completed, no partial routes available. Failure to complete ALL pickups on route may result in nonpayment

Check In at each address

Check the notes section for each customer!

Complete– mark stops “complete ” for successful pick-ups of all bags (up to 6) that the customer has put out.

Damaged– mark stops “damaged” for customers who have ripped bags (rips large enough for a diaper to fall through), wrong bags, more than 6 bags, or otherwise damaged bags. Do not pick up “damaged” bags. Take photo and annotate in Cigo reason for damage.

Incomplete– mark stops “incomplete” for customers who DO NOT have diapers out and take a photo of the front doorstep (5ft from the door) or annotated pickup location. Failure to submit “incomplete” pickup photos for customers without diapers out for pickup will result in non-payment for that stop

Lesson 5: Diaper Unloading Process

We have 2 different unloading processes for storage units across the nation. Your unloading process may vary based on your route area.

01 Bulk Bags & Pallets

West Coast Routes

All compostable bags from your route will be unloaded into large while bulk bags in the storage unit. If you have collected a plastic bags, please dump the diapers into the bulk bags and dispose of the plastic bag as plastic can not be composted. Once a unit is full,  Recyclops will ship the bags to compost.

Once a bulk bag is full, tie the parachute top closed. For any additional unloads, a new pallet will need to be placed down, with a bag opened on top of the pallet. See set up on image to right.

02 Gaylord Boxes

Central & East Coast Routes

Step 1 Gaylord Boxes Explained

Gaylord boxes are 2-3 walled large cardboard containers that hold your product in one box for shipping. They fit on a standard shipping pallet and you can combine several small shipments into one making for very cost-effective shipping.

*Gaylords vary in weight capacity, with some D containers holding up to 1,200 pounds, while others can handle more or less. Standard pallet boxes measuring 48 inches by 40 inches by 36 inches may have weight capacities ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 pounds.

Gaylord boxes are used in many industries from Produce to various retail outlets. The 2 or 3-wall design allows for maximum durability.

Basic Dimension of GB’s used in our Program.

Standard Gaylord: The standard and most popular Gaylord box size measures 48 inches by 40 inches by 36 inches. Another typical size is the 40-inch by 40-inch by 40-inch Gaylord. This size lets the pallet container rest on standard 40-inch by 40-inch pallets or on larger 48-inch by 40-inch pallets.

Our Program preferred size is 47x38x50. INSIDE DIMENSIONS

Step 2 Utilizing Gaylord Boxes

Due to their volume capacity, we have established functional usage and application of GB’s for our Program Material housing and storage solutions.

This allows for material to be aggregated into one universal vessel – which allows us to contain materials not only upfront during on-the-ground operations but also allows for ease of transloading and shipment to our partners.

Step 3 Laying out Pallets

Pallets should be laid down on the ground in a liner uniform manner. The openings should face the door, so that pallet jacks can easily access the full pallet – allowing for quick mobility.

Pallets should be:

a. 6 inches from the unit walls.
b. In a typical unit you
should be able to place 3 – 4 pallets from the rear wall to the front on the unit. Typically we set-up in the left side first then work our way to the right side. The ride side should mirror the left.
c. When mirroring the opposite side there should be between 1.5 to 2 feet of space between the left and right rows of pallets.

Step 4 Pallets and Gaylord Bags

Pallet and Gaylord setup should mirror each other on both the left and right sides of the unit. It is suggested that you begin set up and begin to store materials from the front working your way toward the back of the storage.

  • Leave about 2 feet of space between pallets [for left and ride side unit usage].
  • Fill bags from the front of the storage unit to the back. Fill upfront bags FIRST.
  • Try to keep bag centered on top of the pallet as much as possible.

Place “long side of pallets as close as possible to side walls. This allows for the “short side” of the paler to be exposed for easy access during shipping.

Make sure openings for pallets are placed facing the storage door.

On-Site Gaylord Box Set Up "Non Flap Top-Separate Lid"

Below are directions for setting up pallets and ‘Separate Lid’ Gaylord Boxes’ inside units, prior to use, during operation use, and in preparation for future
use.

Initial Set-Up-Pallets & Gaylord Boxes Inside Unit:

1. Pallet Staging: In a Unit, make sure they are approximately six inches from side and back walls and an approximate two-foot aisle between Gaylord Boxes down the center of the unit so that drivers have room to walk past to unload bags into boxes – as they pass the already-filled Gaylord Boxes. Pallets MUST be oriented correctly or the shipper will not be able to insert the forks into the pallet to lift the pallets out to ship them. If you place them improperly, we won’t be able to ship them.

a. Wooden Pallets are 48×40” – Pallets should be laid out with the short side (40”) facing towards the doorway.

b. Long sides of the pallets should be facing towards the wall [parallel to the wall] of the storage unit.

2. Prepping Gaylord boxes: Gaylord Boxes will arrive usually in a uniform stack – as these are folded and not constructed for shipment. To set up, locate Gaylord Box inside unit, unfold and erect the walls of the box, making sure the center flaps are secure.

3. Place Gaylord Box on top of pallets [that were set up during ‘pallet staging’ and repeat the process for future material storage.

4. Filling Gaylord Boxes with materials: When filling the GB’s be sure to fill from the center of the box working your way out towards the walls in a uniform manner, this will help to ensure maximizing material volumes as we disperse material evenly throughout.

5. Box Full? Seal it Up: Our Gaylord Boxes are accompanied by form-fitting lids. You may need to construct these as well. But, once they are ready to go, place them on top of Gaylord box, making sure all materials are secure to allow for easy application of lid. Place lid over the top, then seal of the lid by using the Shipping Tape and tapping off all sides to the main structure of the Gaylord Box – this secures lid during shipment.

6. Repeat the process for future material storage.

On Site- Gaylord Box Set Up Flap Top

Below are directions for setting up the pallet and ‘Flip Top’ Gaylord Boxes’ inside units, prior to use, during operation use, and in preparation for future use.

Initial Set-Up: Pallets & Gaylord Boxes Inside Unit:

1. Pallet Staging: In a Unit, make sure they are approximately six inches from side and back walls and an approximate two-foot aisle between Gaylord Boxes down the center of the unit so that drivers have room to walk past to unload bags into boxes – as they pass already-filled Gaylord Boxes.

2. Prepping FlapTop Gaylord boxes: Gaylord Boxes will arrive usually in a uniform stack – as these are folded and not constructed for shipment. To set up, locate Gaylord Box inside the unit.

a. These Boxes are like typical cardboard boxes that we have all used, just this is a larger scale. Important note: when a driver/contractor sets up these boxes the flaps CANNOT be inside the box. Unfold and erect the walls of the box, making sure the center flaps are secure at the bottom of the box. Make sure that the top flaps are not tucked into the inside of the box – so please be sure that top flaps are outside of the box during material loading.

Make sure that the top flaps are not tucked into the inside of the box – so please be sure that top flaps are outside of the box during material loading.

5. Box Full? Seal it Up:Flap Top Gaylord boxes once full, NEED TO BE TAPED SHUT – meaning that like a normal box, you need to make sure the flaps are outside of the box, you close the flaps towards the center of the box, and then tape them shut appropriately. Several times if necessary to ensure they are secured for shipment..

6. Repeat the process for future material storage.

Proper Set Up

.Below are images of what a proper Gaylord Box unit location looks like when set-up correctly.

Pallets have been placed and spaced correctly from the sides of the walls, as well pallets have been placed the proper way on the ground to aid in shipping. Lids have been placed and tapped down to the Gaylord boxes to ensure secure packages during transload.

Lesson 6: Driver Pay

Route Payment

Driver payments are based on an algorithm that analyzes data such as the number of stops, distance traveled, capacity of vehicle, and the number of unloads. Local gas prices will also minorly affect payments.

Estimated pay for each route is provided to you 24-48 hours prior to your route once it is assigned to you.
Drivers have the option to accept or decline each route.
Recyclops does not cover tolls or other expenses that occur on route.

Driver Pay Day & Taxes

Beginning Monday, October 3rd, 2022, we are adjusting our payment process to pay you faster for your routes. Instead of receiving payments on Tuesday and/or Friday, you can expect your payment within two business days from the day you completed your route. In some cases where a route takes further review, it may take longer than two days.

The Federal Reserve Clearing House processes all direct deposit payments. They don’t process over the weekend.

We set up your direct deposit account for payments through Paylocity. You receive an email that walks you through setting up your account.

You are a 1099 contractor. Your payments are not subject to any federal, state, or local taxes.

You are responsible for reporting your income and filing your tax return. For any questions regarding taxes please consult with a tax professional.
Non-Payment Policy
-Driver Service failure can result in non-payment. We apply a service failure to your profile when you do not satisfactorily complete your route.
-Failure to complete a route, missed pick-ups, or unresponsiveness to your Operations Specialist will result in a service failure to your profile, nonpayment, and/or possible termination of your contract.
-We are not responsible for and do not reimburse you for any type of violations (e.g., moving, parking, failure to secure a load, et cetera).
-We realize that there can be abnormal conditions that negatively impact a route (e.g., road construction, adverse weather conditions, excessive loads) so drivers can request a hardship for consideration. You must provide evidence of the hardship for approval.

Tips & Tricks

Use a tablet instead of a phone for a larger screen.

Check in at every address on Cigo when you arrive. Grab up to 6 Green ReDyper bag(s) or Green Biobags off their doorstep (within 5 feet of the front door) and head to the next customer.

Bring extra trash bags from home to lie down in your trunk for the route or use a tarp to help keep your car clean.

Bring a pair of disposable gloves for handling bags

Be prepared, make sure you bring what you need to complete your route safely and efficiently and prepare for all weather conditions.
